Who was inspired by the traditional jewelry-making techniques and the skilled artisans in her hometown of Bangkok, Thailand. She was struck by the idea that the artisanal work done by these skilled craftsmen was often undervalued and underappreciated, despite the fact that it required a great deal of expertise and care. The name “Phya” is derived from the Thai word for “greatness”, which reflects Katie’s vision for the brand – to create pieces of jewelry that are not only beautiful and unique, but also imbued with a sense of greatness and a respect for the craftsmanship that goes into their creation.
